We will look at paddling skills, expedition planning and packing, and (optionally) wild camping on a lakeshore. Expert tuition and positive support will be provided to participants throughout the course. You can opt for either 2 1/2 days or 3 1/2 days depending on where you would like to be canoeing in the future!

Canoes and paddling equipment will be available to borrow for the course, but participants should bring their own camping equipment and stoves.

The first night will be based at Gillside campsite, but it is not required to stay there and the cost of this is not included in the price.

Friday evening will be a briefing session.

Saturday basic canoe paddling skills for efficient and enjoyable paddling on flat water. Saturday evening in the pub.

Sunday will cover more advanced journeying skills and safety and rescue. Finishing at 4pm.

Monday will be an introduction to moving water skills.
